Major Functions of Stores and Purchase:

  • Procure goods and services to meet operational needs in a timely manner with established procurement policies and procedures to operates with integrity and the marketplace.
  • Ensure all procurements are made in a transparent way and majority of procurement of goods and services are through Government E Market place – GeM (78% through GeM in 2023-24).
  • Maintains close communication with department heads to better understand their needs, manage the requisition process and source competitive prices.
  • Inventory Management
  • Asset Management
  • High value procurements are routed through Standard Purchase Committee (SPC) to review and recommend.
  • Price Negotiation Committee (PNC) is in place to negotiate price to take advantage of competitive prices.
